Qualifications:

• Doctor of Physical Therapy
• Licensure by the Alabama State Board of Physical Therapy
• Valid driver's license

JOB GOAL: Evaluates motor function, designs and provides therapy programs to assist students with disabilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assesses student motor functions impaired or lost through illness, injury or deprivation that are relevant to educational programming
2. Prepares an individual written report for each student evaluated
3. Develops and implements therapy programs to improve, develop or maintain gross motor functions
4. Develops and implements therapy programs to improve ability to perform tasks for independent functions
5. Develops and implements therapy programs to prevent initial or further impairment or loss of function
6. Maintains records and progress notes for students evaluated and receiving services
7. Attends IEP Committee meetings to assist in writing attainable educational goals and objectives
8. Recommends environmental adaptations needed for students such as mobility devices, seating equipment, and postural adaptations
9. Maintains inventory of special equipment and recommend appropriate equipment to students requiring adaptive equipment
10. Coordinates services with other school programs
11. Consults with classroom teachers and other personnel to facilitate attainment of educational objectives
12. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership
13. Provides information, support and guidance to parents/guardians and families
14. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations
15. Performs other related duties as assigned
16. Duty Days: 187

Salary Range: According to Madison County Schools Salary Schedule. Actual salary will be determined by rank and experience.
