Job Title: Hot Asphalt CDL A Transport DriverOverview:A Hot Asphalt Transport Driver is responsible for hauling our product from our terminals to customer or Suit-Kote locations in a safe and timely manner while abiding State and Federal Motor Carrier Laws.Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to always observe safe work practices and operating procedures. Whenever on Suit-Kote property, at a customer facility, or operating Suit-Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.Responsibilities/Job Duties:Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips. Maintain and submit daily records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver's record of duty status, mileage records, and other records required by law as well as fuel slips and payrolls Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather and in or out of tight loading and unloading areas. Must be able to back up equipment in all types of weather and conditions. This includes backing up long distances, around corners, and in and around very tight corners in all situations. Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment and any highway safety hazards noted enroute to locationAbility to keep equipment clean or clean it when neededPerform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicleWork in all types of weather conditionsRequired Skills/Abilities:Valid CDL ATanker EndorsementAble to work efficiently and independentlyExhibit strong customer service skills and willingness to work in a team environmentStrong work ethicMust be able to communicate with co-workers and supervisorsPhysical Organization and time management Flexibility in hours - overtime and weekend hours may be necessaryPassing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conductedConsent to a DMV license evaluationMust have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety CertificatePhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift 50 poundsObserve and comply with necessary PPE requirementsMust be able to work in a noisy area with many odors presentPhysically able to open and/or close dome lids on trailers; hook and/or unhook trailers from truck; climb ladder to check holding tank, and handle hoses associated with this positionBending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squattingOther Preferred Qualities:Ability to read and understand SDS (Safety Data Sheets)Hazmat endorsement a plus or willingness to obtain one. Position is considered full time, but seasonal in nature, with anticipated lay-off in the November thru March timeframe. Site specific locations may have varying seasonal requirements that can extend or contract these timeframes.Salary Rate: $26-$27/hourAdditional Duties:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
