Travel Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) Circulator

Location

Carlsbad, New Mexico

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Days, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts) | Call required: minimum one weekday per week plus weekend rotation; on-call hours Monday–Friday 3:30 PM–7:00 AM and Saturday–Sunday 7:00 AM–7:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the circulating RN in the operating room, demonstrating critical thinking and clinical judgment to anticipate and plan for patient care throughout surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR technicians, and other surgical team members to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with State Nurse Practice Act, AORN standards, and facility policies
• Ensure appropriate supplies are available, maintain timeliness of cases, and communicate updates to patients' families
• Maintain and update physician preference cards to support efficient surgical workflow
• Scrub in and assist physicians during surgical cases as needed
• Supervise personnel involved in delivering patient care within the surgical department

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Experience with general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and DaVinci robotic surgical procedures
• Adult and pediatric patient care experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a high-volume surgical environment performing approximately 250 or more procedures per month
• Familiarity with a 1:1 patient ratio setting and multi-room OR suite operations
