As a leader in children's health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.OverviewThe Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine is recruiting a full-time PHM board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with strong clinical skills and an interest in academic medicine. The candidate will participate in clinical, educational, and quality improvement initiatives within the Division. Mastery of skills such as professionalism, team-based care, care of children with medical complexity, and effective communication are mandatory.The Division is made up of greater than 45 physicians and 6 hospital medicine fellows. Physicians in the Division hold a wide variety of leadership roles throughout the institution, including in the areas of Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education, Medical Administration, Quality and Safety, Performance Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, and Medical Informatics. Our division supports the individual professional desires of each partner while supporting the wellbeing of our team members.The clinical practice is primarily at our tertiary care facility described below. There will be additional opportunities to work at our community site, which is also described below.Children's Mercy Hospital is an urban freestanding children's hospital with full pediatric medical/surgical support. Our faculty provides two distinct types of clinical service here:24/7 direct care on a hospitalist- team comprised of medically complex and diverse general pediatric patients. Fellows, residents on elective, and medical students may be part of the team.Attending supervision of teaching teams of fellows, residents, and students. The supervision of teaching teams is restricted to PHM board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalists.Children's Mercy Kansas is a unique, freestanding community children's hospital located 12 miles southwest of Children's Mercy Hospital. The hospital serves a breadth of pediatric diagnoses with lower acuity than our main campus.
