Description Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP is seeking a full-time attorney admitted in New York State with at least three years of experience to join our Trusts & Estates Practice Group in our Binghamton office. Coughlin & Gerhart proudly dates back to the 1890s and has grown to include nine offices in New York and Pennsylvania. Requirements Current New York Bar admission. Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. 3+ years of Trusts & Estates experience preferred. Strong desire to further legal skills. Responsibilities Represent the firm’s clients in the estate planning process. Draft a variety of estate planning and trust administration documents. Assist clients with trust funding and provide appropriate guidance. Prepare and assemble federal estate tax returns. Demonstrate understanding of Surrogate’s Court / Probate Court processes, including court filings and procedural requirements. Manage trust and probate administration matters and ensure deadlines are met. Interpret applicable laws, rulings, and regulations related to estate planning, probate, and trust administration. Provide sound judgment with strong attention to detail in all matters. Utilize analytical and research skills to support case work. Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills when working with clients, courts, and internal teams. Skills Must be skillful in managing situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness and sound judgement. Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and promptly respond to client needs. Ability to write in a clear, concise, and effective manner. Excellent verbal communication and advocacy skills. Ability to perform quick and reliable research. Strong analytical, research, and writing skills. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and convey information effectively in person, by email, and telephone.
