Psychiatric Geriatric, Psychiatric Adult Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) manages and coordinates nursing care activities during client hospitalization. The RN works in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN directs and is responsible for personnel involved in client care. The RN maintains professional accountability for all nursing care provided. The RN demonstrates competency in nursing judgment. The RN is aware of economic barriers in healthcare and acts accordingly. The RN demonstrates knowledge of nursing care needs and treatments for various clinical specialties. The RN works with clients aged 18 years or older.

Essential Functions and Duties: The RN organizes and coordinates nursing care delivery for assigned clients. The RN adapts to new techniques without performance deficiencies. The RN directs others in healthcare delivery. Regular talking and hearing is required. The RN must be able to stand for 4-6 hours. Direct client care activities are provided as required, in accordance with department policies. A concentrated level of attention is necessary. The RN adjusts the eye to bring objects into sharp focus.

Position Qualifications: The RN is a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. A B.S.N. is preferred or equivalent experience is acceptable. The RN demonstrates clinical competence and responsibility for personal and professional growth.

Preferred Skills and Abilities: The RN can operate standard office equipment and specific computer software. Physical Demands: The RN requires grasping and reaching with hands/arms. The RN must be able to lift up to 25 pounds when assisting clients. Bending, stooping, and walking are necessary. The RN must use good body mechanics to prevent injury.

Function Duties and Responsibilities: The RN provides appropriate nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing functions. Nursing assignments are made according to the skill level of employees. The RN identifies problems and develops solutions using critical thinking skills. A working climate that fosters growth and job satisfaction is maintained. The RN accurately and promptly implements physician orders. Medications are prepared, administered, and recorded in accordance with policy. Information is recorded concisely and accurately. The RN complies with all infection control policies and procedures. Emergency care is coordinated and provided as needed. The RN participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel. The performance of personnel is evaluated with appropriate recommendations. All organization policies are complied with, and assistance is provided in the revision of policies. Appropriate channels of communication are utilized. Interventions are adjusted based on age-appropriate guidelines. The RN prioritizes client care in an organized and timely manner. Knowledge of organization and department safety procedures is maintained. The RN contributes to a safe environment by monitoring for harmful contraband. In-services, training, and meetings are attended as required. Goals for professional growth are developed and evaluated. The RN maintains an active role in customer service. Collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare team members are established. Harmonious relationships among the healthcare team and customers are promoted. Self-example in supporting the organization's mission and philosophy is demonstrated. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor are performed.
