Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors manual and automated filling and packaging equipment in a controlled manufacturing environment. This role ensures products meet strict quality and safety standards by performing routine checks, making minor mechanical and control adjustments, documenting production data, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures and Current Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Operate, monitor, and adjust manual and automated filling equipment and machines using HMI controls, photo-eyes, sensors, and other control devices.
• Perform scheduled quality checks on in-process and finished product, identify deviations from specifications, and take appropriate corrective action, including stopping production when necessary.
• Document all required production, quality, and process information accurately on manufacturing logs and in the POMS system.
• Set up, load, and replenish production supplies using a powered industrial truck at a pace that supports production requirements.
• Execute batch changes, code changes, tank changes, and sub-lot changes as required by the production schedule.
• Escalate any inefficiencies in machine performance, including issues related to mechanical wear, alignment, adjustment, and setup, to appropriate personnel.
• Notify supervision and take appropriate action when safety, quality, mechanical, or other discrepancies occur.
• Use measuring tools and hand tools to verify product dimensions and performance, ensuring output meets specifications, and make minor adjustments and repairs as needed.
• Perform and document scheduled cleaning and sanitation activities in accordance with established procedures.
• Learn, understand, and consistently apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Reconcile headcount needs on a per-shift basis in alignment with scheduled production demands.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area using 6S principles, including proper care, storage, and security of tools and equipment.
• Perform computer data entry to support production tracking, quality documentation, and other operational needs.

• Proven experience in a production technician or manufacturing role with responsibilities such as preventative maintenance and machine troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience operating production and packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to adjust machines using HMI controls, sensors, photo-eyes, and manual adjustments to maintain product quality and throughput.
• Experience performing quality checks and inspections in a production setting.
• Proficiency using hand tools and measuring tools to verify product specifications and perform minor repairs.
• Ability to perform computer data entry accurately for production and quality records.
• Capability to use a powered industrial truck to move and replenish production supplies.
• Understanding of or willingness to learn and apply Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and escalate issues related to safety, quality, and machine performance promptly.
• Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination as required for the role.

• Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment.
• Familiarity with 6S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement principles.
• Comfort working around powerful machinery and automated equipment.

• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment and adhere to strict gowning procedures.

This role operates in highly controlled production areas with specific gowning and safety requirements. On the Fill Side, work takes place in a Class I Controlled Environment, requiring safety glasses or goggles, safety shoes, ear plugs, hairnet, beard cover (as applicable), jumpsuit, hood, cleanroom mask, rubber boot shoe covers, and gloves, with additional personal protective equipment required during cleaning activities. On the Pouch Side, work is performed in a CNC (Controlled Not Classified) Environment, requiring safety glasses or goggles, safety shoes, ear plugs, hairnet, and beard cover, with additional PPE when cleaning. The environment includes intermittent exposure to elevated noise levels and high humidity and involves working around equipment and powerful machinery. Duties require regular handling of chemical cleaners and disinfectants while following established safety and handling procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marion, NC.

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $21.40/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
