Materials Engineer PositionChance Aluminum, based in Williamsport, PA, focuses on aluminum production as the domestic supplier for AA Metals, a Florida-based master distributor with global operations in the United States, Colombia, Turkey, and China. We are a safety-focused, industrial manufacturing facility looking to expand our team of dedicated, goal-driven individuals.Materials Engineer Position Overview:The Materials Engineer is responsible for supporting the quality, performance, and consistency of aluminum products in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on alloy evaluation, process support, and troubleshooting across rolling, packing, and finishing operations. The Metallurgist works closely with production and quality teams to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards while driving continuous improvement.Materials Engineer Benefits:Competitive compensationPaid time offPaid holidaysLow-cost United Healthcare health insurance premiumsDental insuranceVision insuranceEmployer paid short-term and long-term disability insurance401k with employer matchingMaterials Engineer Core Responsibilities:Analyze aluminum alloys to evaluate properties, performance, and suitability for applicationSupport rolling, packing, and finishing processes to improve quality and efficiencyInvestigate material defects, failures, and non-conformities; identify root causes and implement corrective actionsWork with production teams to resolve day-to-day metallurgical and process-related issuesAssist in developing and maintaining process controls to ensure consistent product qualityPerform and interpret materials testing (mechanical, chemical)Maintain records of testing results, process data, and analysisSupport quality initiatives, including scrap reduction and process improvement effortsEnsure compliance with customer specifications and applicable industry standardsAssist with internal audits and quality system requirements (e.g., ISO 9001)Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to internal teamsCreating oven cyclesMaterials Engineer Qualifications:Required:Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fieldExperience in a manufacturing environment preferred (aluminum or metals processing a plus)Extensive knowledge of aluminum alloys, annealing, and metallurgical principlesFamiliarity with material testing methods and lab equipmentAbility to work both independently and in a team environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing settingPreferred:Experience with casting, rolling, or metal finishing processesExposure to statistical analysis toolsKnowledge of Aluminum Association standards, alloys, and tempersFamiliarity with continuous improvement methodsPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be comfortable working in a noisy, industrial environment with exposure to heat and moving machinery.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of hand tools or test equipment.Work Schedule:Full-time position with possible on-call availability for emergencies.Rotating shifts may be required, including weekends and holidaysJob Type: Full-timeJob Location: On-site, Williamsport, PA
