Senior Nonprofit AccountantYouth Outreach Services is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team. This is a senior-level accounting role supporting a nonprofit organization with complex financial operations, multiple funding sources, and strict compliance requirements. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, and supporting organizational planning and audits. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with strong nonprofit experience, advanced knowledge of accounting systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries and month-end closeSupport cost accounting and general accounting functions across programs and contractsAssist with financial reporting for leadership, funders, and external stakeholdersEnsure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standardsSupport annual budgeting and financial planning processesOversee or provide backup for accounts payable and accounts receivableAssist with audits, inventory reconciliation, and internal control improvementsMaintain accurate documentation for contracts, grants, and program expensesProcess bi-weekly payroll and related journal entriesCollaborate with internal departments on financial planning and decision-makingRequired Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)2–6 years of professional accounting experiencePrevious nonprofit accounting experience (required)Experience working with multiple accounting systems and financial softwareStrong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reportingProven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritiesPreferred SkillsExperience supporting audits and funder reportingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively with diverse teams and communitiesHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skills.What we offerComprehensive Benefits Package: Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Short/Long-Term Disability options.Retirement Plan: 403(b) with eligibility for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness.Paid Time Off (PTO): Generous accruals to support work-life balance.
