Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management Professor Maytal Saar‑Tsechansky and the Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management (IROM) in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The research focuses on use‑inspired Artificial Intelligence (AI) addressing challenges in developing AI systems and human‑AI collaboration methods to reliably improve outcomes in health care and other high‑impact contexts, benefiting people, organizations, and society at large. We invite applications from varied relevant academic backgrounds, including Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, and Data Science. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field of research, with a record and interest in use‑inspired AI, and will be independent with the ability and interest to initiate and drive research projects, engage productively with an interdisciplinary team, and serve in a central role within the team. Candidates will join a vibrant AI research community, contribute to the University of Texas at Austin’s Machine Learning Laboratory, and engage with professionals performing high‑stakes decision‑making. Responsibilities The position is in‑person at the University of Texas at Austin. The postdoctoral researcher will be a key member of the research team, responsible for driving, coordinating, and conducting research, and will have opportunities to initiate research and mentor Ph.D. students. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in a field relevant to use‑inspired AI, with research that is relevant to use‑inspired AI, interest in human‑AI collaboration including in the context of LLMs, and knowledge in and research experience with LLMs. Ph.D. in an applicable field earned within the last 3 years. Preferred Qualifications Interest and prior record in LLMs Human‑AI collaboration for decision‑making. Demonstrated research independence and ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary research team. Salary Range $65,000 Working Conditions This is a grant‑funded position and reassignment will be based on performance, progress toward research goals, and continuation of funding. This position is in‑person in Austin, TX at the University of Texas at Austin. Standard office conditions and repetitive use of a keyboard.
