CONTROLLER / CFO
A well-established, privately held $50M construction company is seeking a hands-on Controller/CFO to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this role will oversee the company's financial operations while serving as a strategic business partner focused on profitable growth, cash flow, project performance, and operational accountability .
The ideal candidate is a commercially minded financial leader who understands construction and can move comfortably between detailed accounting and strategic business decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
Oversee job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project profitability .
Provide leadership with timely, actionable financial reporting and KPIs.
Develop cash-flow forecasts and improve working-capital management.
Partner with project managers to identify margin issues, cost overruns, and project risks.
Manage banking, CPA, insurance, and surety/bonding relationships.
Lead and develop the accounting/finance team.
Strengthen financial controls, systems, and processes.
Support strategic decisions involving growth, capital expenditures, staffing, and investments.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience.
Controller, CFO, or senior accounting leadership experience.
Construction or other project-based business experience required.
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Demonstrated expertise in cash flow, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Hands-on, analytical, proactive, and highly accountable.
Strong communicator and business partner.
CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus, but not required.
