Job Description

Job Summary:
The CVOR Surgical Technologist is responsible for supporting cardiac and vascular surgeries within the Operating Room. They ensure all surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are prepared, sterile, and functioning effectively to facilitate successful procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and assist surgeons by anticipating instrumentation and supply needs.
• Verify supplies and equipment against physician preference cards, ensuring completeness and functionality for each case.
• Properly assemble, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments, disposables, and specialized equipment required for CVOR procedures.
• Maintain a sterile environment by monitoring the sterile field and recognizing breaches in technique or contamination.
• Efficiently set up sterile fields, track medications, sponges, sharps, and instruments, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5+ years of CVOR experience, including open heart procedures.
• Current certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Experience in tertiary care or designated Level I/II trauma centers preferred.
• Ability to float to general OR as needed.
