Targeted HR Consulting is partnering with a well-established heavy civil construction company seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Estimator to join its growing team in Columbia, South Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong background in heavy civil construction, site development, utilities, drainage, and roadway projects who is looking for long-term career growth with a stable organization.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of estimating experience with a heavy civil general contractor and possess the ability to accurately estimate a wide variety of self-performed site development projects.

Please note: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Relocation is not provided for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates for heavy civil construction projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $10 million
• Estimate grading, underground utilities, drainage, site development, mining reclamation, overburden removal, and related heavy civil work
• Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing for self-performed work
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Produce conceptual, schematic, and final contract estimates
• Evaluate construction risks and incorporate them into pricing strategies
• Identify constructability concerns and value engineering opportunities
• Collaborate with project management, operations, engineers, and clients throughout the bidding process
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
• Experience working for a heavy civil or site development general contractor
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred; Associate's degree or equivalent experience will also be considered
• Strong understanding of grading, utilities, drainage, roads, excavation, and site development
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• AGTEK
• Trimble Business Center
• Carlson
• AutoCAD or similar takeoff/modeling software
• B2W Estimate (Bid2Win)
• HCSS HeavyBid or comparable estimating software
