This role offers the unique opportunity to work on technically complex, large‑scale projects at the cutting edge of technology, lead internal engineering teams, mentor developing engineers, and directly contribute to the success of our leading semiconductor clients and the growth of our firm in this dynamic, high‑growth sector. AI and Innovation At SSOE, we don't just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe‑coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you'll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows. Responsibilities Lead and drive the electrical engineering design and planning process for a portfolio of complex, large‑scale advanced high‑tech industrial and semiconductor projects, including wafer fabrication facilities (fabs), cleanrooms, sub‑fab utility levels, central utility plants (CUP), process support buildings, and associated administrative and laboratory spaces; from conceptual design and load analysis through construction administration within an integrated design‑build delivery framework. Provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day oversight to internal electrical engineering project teams, ensuring the creation of coordinated, high‑quality construction documents that meet our client's specifications, industry best practices, and project schedules. Lead the design of comprehensive low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) power distribution systems, including MV switchgear, substation design and coordination, MV/LV transformers, low voltage switchgear and switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), panelboards, busway distribution, and critical power pathways, ensuring selectivity, coordination, and arc flash hazard mitigation. Guide the seamless integration of electrical design with mechanical, process, structural, architectural, I&C, and fire protection systems, collaborating with all engineering disciplines to ensure holistic coordination, constructability, and operational performance. Perform and oversee power system studies using industry‑standard software (e.g., SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower), including short circuit analysis, protective device coordination studies, arc flash hazard analysis and labeling, load flow analysis, harmonic analysis, and motor starting studies to validate design integrity and safety. Interpret and apply the relevant codes for all project phases, including in‑depth interpretation and application of the International Building Code (IBC), International Existing Building Code (IEBC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), International Fire Code (IFC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), local amendments, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 75 (Protection of Information Technology Equipment), NFPA 76 (Fire Protection of Telecommunications Facilities), and the full suite of accessibility codes and standards (ADA, ABA, local accessibility requirements). Lead peer reviews, quality assurance/quality control checks, and constructability reviews, with a particular focus on power distribution, protective device coordination, arc flash mitigation, and equipment clearances per NEC Article 110. Mentor junior and mid‑level electrical engineers within internal project teams, fostering deep understanding of LV/MV power distribution design, power system analysis, cleanroom electrical considerations, semiconductor industry standards, and the technical detailing required for reliable mission‑critical electrical infrastructure. Stay current with evolving codes, standards (including SEMI E33, SEMI F47, SEMI S2, SEMI S8, SEMI S14), industry practices, and emerging technologies such as medium voltage UPS, lithium‑ion battery energy storage systems (BESS) for UPS applications, solid‑state transformers, integrated power distribution skids, and alternative energy integration; apply this knowledge to project delivery and firm standards. Conduct periodic field observations and site visits to assess existing conditions within operating fabs, monitor construction progress, verify conformance with design intent, and resolve electrical design and coordination issues in real time; travel requirements are minimal and typically limited to regional project sites. Lead the development and maintenance of electrical engineering standards, master specifications, single‑line diagram templates, power system study protocols, and Revit/BIM documentation standards to improve efficiency, consistency, technical quality, and speed‑to‑market across high‑tech and semiconductor projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. Proven leadership in managing and guiding internal electrical engineering design teams through all project phases, from conceptual design and load estimation through detailed design, and construction support within a design‑build delivery model. Deep expertise in low voltage (600V and below) and medium voltage (5kV, 15kV, 35kV class) power distribution system design, including MV switchgear, LV switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, transformers, and substation design up to utility point of common coupling. Extensive experience performing and reviewing power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow, and harmonic analysis; proficiency with power system modeling software (SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower) is required. Experience in interpreting and applying NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, and related codes and standards to complex industrial and cleanroom environments. Proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows is required for design coordination; working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and lighting design software is highly desirable. Excellent communication, presentation, and client‑facing skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex electrical engineering concepts, single‑line diagrams, and technical studies to diverse audiences including facility engineers, project managers, trade contractors, and client technical leadership.
