Job Description

Electrical Engineer (New Product Development)

About Arctic Compressor

At Arctic Compressor, we build high-pressure breathing air solutions for the heroes who risk their lives every day, and the industries that power our economy. We are a fast-growing, innovative family-owned business whose core values are ambition, passion, and resourcefulness. We care about execution, speed, and engineering intuition. If you are an electrical professional who loves to build, test, and see your ideas come to life, this is your sandbox.

The Role

We are looking for a versatile Electrical Engineer to join our engineering and new product development team. In this role, you won't just be filling out paperwork or managing vendors. You will be the go-to resource for making our products smarter, easier to use, and more reliable.

What You'll Do

• Design & Prototype: Create and revise electrical schematics, lay out custom PCBs, and build prototype control panels.
• Write Controls Logic and Code: Author code and instructions for microcontrollers(STM/Arduino), VFD’s, and battery powered inverter systems to talk to air pressure transducers and industrial automation sensors.
• Collaborate on Integration: Work with your engineering and production teams and apply Design For Manufacturing(DFM) principles that ensure products are efficiently producible.
• Manage the Product Lifecycle: Maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) and interface with our MRP/ERP software to ensure your designs seamlessly transition from prototype to full production.
• Hands-on Testing: Participate in the physical assembly and testing of prototype designs on the production floor soldering and crimping wires and PCBs to make sure everything works perfectly under real-world conditions.
• Document Your Work: Keep clean, straightforward schematics and documentation so the team can easily understand, manufacture, service, and support the product.

What We Value

• The "Always a Solution" Mindset: You approach complex technical roadblocks with optimism and tenacity. When a prototype throws a strange error or space constraints get tight, you look for novel and innovative solutions.
• A Learner's Appetite: You are a self-starter who isn't afraid to learn a new tool, utilize modern methods to speed up your workflow, or step outside your comfort zone to solve a problem.
• Strong Hardware Intuition: You have a global understanding of electronics and mechanics. You know how to troubleshoot and even if you don’t know exactly what's wrong, you use logic and reason to isolate problems and propose solutions.
• A "Wearer of Hats": You enjoy variety. You are just as comfortable designing in the virtual world as you are picking up hand tools to diagnose or wire a prototype on the shop floor.

Desired Qualifications

• Background: Experience as an Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer or a similar technical, hands-on role.
• Skills: Experience with these or similar software, tools, and skills: SolidWorks, KiCad, MRP/ERP/PDM, basic microcontroller programming, general electrical troubleshooting.
• Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical, hands-on experience.
• Experience: Be ready to show or talk about projects you’ve personally built, wired, designed or coded, either professionally or in your own garage.
