Accounting Intern

POSITION SUMMARY The Dallas Mavericks organization is seeking a motivated, hard-working, and dedicated candidate to become an integral part of our accounting team. You will be a vital part of assisting the Dallas Mavericks Accounting team with a variety of independent and group projects. LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP October 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. (Duration may change because of performance and/or business needs.) Mandatory In-Person Internship Development Session. (Monday mornings.) Must be able to work 29 hours per week (3-4 days/wk.), which may include nights and weekends as needed and working games. JOB FUNCTION Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records Prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents Work with bookkeeping and other accounting related software Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity Learn how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company’s operations Shadow members of the accounting department as they perform their duties Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to multi-task, handle challenging tasks, and work well in a team environment Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Outlook Positive attitude and willingness to assist others Highly motivated with a strong work ethic Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment Enthusiastic and energetic personality Professional demeanor and ability to engage with diverse co-workers and clients Flexible work schedule – including some game nights and weekends Possess strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must be a junior or senior currently enrolled in a 4-year college with a preferred concentration in accounting or finance Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of financial accounting principles Aptitude for math High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility (If applying for college credit you must be able to provide proof that credit will be earned toward your course of study (from school/registrar).)
