Part-Time Caregiver - Autism Support

We are seeking a patient, reliable, and attentive caregiver to provide one-on-one support to a child with autism in Ashburn, VA. The child is non-verbal and has limited awareness of environmental dangers, so close and consistent supervision is required at all times to help maintain a safe environment both indoors and outdoors. Responsibilities Provide close supervision and prioritize the child's safety at all times Assist with toileting, hygiene, and occasional pull-up changes Support the child during indoor and outdoor activities Participate in walks and safe, structured outdoor play Help maintain a calm, supportive, and structured environment Follow care plans and behavioral guidelines provided by parents and therapists Assist with feeding and meal/snack preparation as needed Observe and promptly communicate any notable changes in behavior, mood, or health Provide support while the child is working with their therapist During downtime, assist with light housekeeping related to the child, including laundry, organizing the child's space, cleaning up after activities, and maintaining a safe and tidy environment Schedule This is a part-time position totaling 21 hours per week , Monday through Friday during after-school hours. Qualifications The ideal candidate is: 18 years of age or older Patient, compassionate, and dependable Highly attentive and safety-conscious Comfortable assisting with personal care and toileting Able to remain calm and composed in challenging situations Comfortable supervising a child both indoors and outdoors Reliable and punctual Able to follow instructions and care plans from parents and therapists Experience working with children with special needs, particularly autism, is preferred but not required.
