Registered Sleep Technician

Overview Performs patient education, comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a Sleep Technician 3, Medical Director, or designee. 12‑Hour shifts, PRN/As needed. Location: Walworth Hospital and Medical Center. Pay range: $24.76–$39.62. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Gather and analyze patient information; review history, physical, medications, procedure request, and study protocol; complete and verify documentation. Prepare testing equipment: calibrate, adjust, and ensure proper functioning; apply electrodes and sensors according to the 10/20 system; perform physiologic calibrations. Perform mask fitting for positive airway pressure (PAP) and routine PAP mask fitting. Conduct polysomnographic and other testing procedures following AASM and Center protocols: MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, routine polysomnography, PAP and oxygen titration, dental appliance titration, pediatric polysomnography, and titrations. Assist with appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic interventions. Perform Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT) following Center protocols. Follow cleaning and maintenance protocols for equipment and supplies. Recognize and provide age‑specific care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Score polysomnographic records: sleep/wake stages, respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, and other clinical events using AASM guidelines and Center protocols; generate accurate reports and correct as necessary. Perform telephone and scheduling activities to ensure departmental efficiency and patient service. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualification and Experience Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one‑year duration from a state‑licensed or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent documented proficiency in all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician. Certification and Licensure Current CPR certification. Holds a Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent, or certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT), or by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT‑SDS). Special Physical Demands Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Must lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and occasional distance vision.
