Apply to join our team at any time during the year if you will be eligible to be MN POST licensed within six months of applying. Newly hired officers will receive a $5,000 hiring bonus. Lateral transfers with at least one year of experience as a sworn officer will receive a $10,000 hiring bonus. Possible tuition reimbursement opportunities. The Police Officer is responsible for maintaining public order and protecting life and property by responding to emergencies, investigating crimes, apprehending criminals and deterring criminal activity. Responsibilities Respond to critical emergencies and other calls for service to protect life and property, prevent crime and enforce laws. Investigate all levels of crime to develop facts in a case to prove or disprove who is responsible for committing crimes. Formulate police reports based off evidence and facts established in a case and recommend criminal charges to attorneys when necessary. Develop and implement split second decisions utilizing trained tactics to control dangerous, unpredictable and hazardous situations. Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies, attorneys, judges and other first responders to prosecute crime. Communicate with community members from all walks of life, support community engagements and improve relationships between police and community. Deploy undercover/covert operations to gather intelligence and evidence gathering. Develop and administer department training plans from a vast array of topics from use of force, firearms, control devices, K9, SWAT etc. Assist other departments and employees as necessary. Continually show respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibit sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community. Qualifications Some college coursework or Associate Degree Bachelor’s degree preferred POST License First Responder License Valid driver’s license Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills Strong attention to detail The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job.
