Medical Laboratory Scientist – Blood Bank 
Employment Type: Full-Time | Day Shift (variable schedule, weekends/holidays as needed)

A healthcare organization in the Capital Region of New York is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high-complexity hospital laboratory team with a strong focus on transfusion services and multi-disciplinary testing.

\n Key Responsibilities \n

\n
• \n

  Perform routine and STAT testing across all core laboratory areas

\n
• \n

  Primary focus on blood bank / transfusion medicine testing and procedures

\n
• \n

  Process, analyze, and verify patient specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols

\n
• \n

  Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation

\n
• \n

  Perform quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities

\n
• \n

  Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all reported results

\n
• \n

  Support workflow across Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank as needed

\n
• \n

  Participate in training of new staff and students when required

\n
• \n

  Maintain compliance with hospital and laboratory standards at all times

\n

\n Required Qualifications \n

\n
• \n

  Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field

\n
• \n

  ASCP certification required

\n
• \n

  Strong hospital blood bank experience required

\n
• \n

  New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure required or eligible

\n
• \n

  Ability to work independently on night shift in a fast-paced environment

\n
• \n

  Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

\n
• \n

  Comfortable covering multiple core lab areas when needed

\n
