We are seeking qualified candidates for long term projects in Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, Wichita Falls & Vernon. You will have an opportunity to be a part of advanced manufacturing, mission critical, DOT, and enormous federal projects in West Texas. This role requires travel; per diem is provided for qualifying projects.Core ResponsibilitiesPerforms construction-related field testing and inspections as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer.Travels to various construction sites primarily throughout the West Texas area with the potential likely for overnight and/or weekend work as needed.Performs field soil and Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) density testing using a nuclear density gauge and maintains proper handling procedures in accordance with radiation safety and HAZMAT requirements.Performs field quality control testing of in-place concrete, including sampling and testing procedures.Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.Transports equipment, test specimens, and documentation to field personnel, laboratory staff, clients, or other offices.Provides assistance with equipment setup and testing preparation at project sites.Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.Assists other technicians and professional staff with tasks and supports other departments as necessary.Follows Atlas safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures.Performs IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections of Reinforced Concrete, Soils, Structural Masonry, Fireproofing, Firestopping, Structural Steel and Bolting, Welding, as applicable.Supports projects from proposal through completion to ensure scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives are metMaintains communication with clients, contractors, and senior staff as neededDirects, where necessary, various activities at projects sitesOther duties as assignedYou'll thrive here if you haveWillingness to travel and/or relocate to projects in West TexasWillingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or nights often in excess of 50 hours per weekHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent2+ years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experienceExperience performing soil density testing using a nuclear density gaugeCompletion of Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Training and HAZMAT certificationExperience performing concrete testingAbility to lift and transport testing equipment.Ability to maintain clear communication with clients, contractors, Atlas team members, etc.Ability to lift and transport material samples and testing equipment, possibly in excess of 50 lbsAbility to submit daily summary reports and supporting data electronically on a daily basisACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade IAPNGA/HAZMAT Certification for Nuclear Density GaugesFamiliarity with Submitting CMT Daily ReportsACI Concrete Compressive Strength a PlusTXAPA, NICET, or ICC Certifications (Reinforced Concrete & Soils) a PlusOSHA 10 HR - A PlusExperience in Quality Assurance/Quality ControlThese sites are in remote locations so the possibility of travel is high. If located near a project site, travel may be minimized.
