Community Practice technicians contribute to patient assessment and handling, client communication, and provide support for a variety of general procedures and laboratory analysis of samples. Technicians provide support to the service and teaching mission of the hospital in collaboration with faculty and veterinary students.**Job Responsibilities:****VETERINARY TECHNICIAN 1*** 60% Assist with physical exams and obtaining diagnostic/laboratory samples (including venipuncture). Assist with proper animal care and restraint aligning with Fear Free protocols. Perform client communications, including emails, phone calls, and medical records.* 20% Assist with analyzing fecals, heartworm tests, urinalyses, and other diagnostics using in-house laboratory equipment. Assist with general anesthesia (including induction and maintenance of anesthesia) for surgical procedures. Follow policy and procedures of proper handling of controlled substances, including proper disposal.* 10% Assist with ordering and maintaining inventory for department, including hospital food room. Clean and sanitize exam rooms and treatment room area as needed.* 10% Participate with blood bank and on-call, holiday, and emergency shifts in Small Animal ICU and ER. Other duties as assigned.**Minimum Qualifications:**Must be actively licensed with the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Registered Veterinary Technician.**Preferred Qualifications:**Actively licensed with the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Registered Veterinary Technician and one year of related experience; Fear Free Certified.**VETERINARY TECHNICIAN 2*** 60% Perform physical exams and obtaining diagnostic/laboratory samples (including venipuncture).
