Pharmacy Technician IIThe Pharmacy Technician II assists the pharmacist with the preparation of medications for dispensing. The technician performs various technical and supportive tasks necessary to provide pharmacy services. The pharmacy technician II works under supervision of the pharmacist, and focuses on accurate medication preparation following established policy and procedures set forth by the Pharmacy Department. This role meets the requirements of being a qualified pharmacy technician as established by the State Board of Pharmacy and holds a Certified Pharmacy Technician license from a State Board of Pharmacy accredited agency. The pharmacy technician II has mastered job duties and responsibilities and takes active part in training technicians and quality improvement projects.Department Specific Job Details:1. Assist the pharmacistWorks under direct supervision of the pharmacist on dutyPrepares medications and properly displays product for pharmacist to verify and dispenseUnderstands technician role vs pharmacist role and adheres to regulations established by the State Board of PharmacyConsults pharmacist with questions pertaining to patient care and ensures procedures are followed appropriatelyWorks cooperatively with other technicians and pharmacists to ensure overall goal of medication preparation is performed accurately and efficiently2. Pharmacy FunctionsAnswers the phone promptly and directs caller to the appropriate personMaintains integrity of pharmaceutical products throughout preparationMaintains a clean and orderly work environmentAccurately prepares and distributes patient medicationsPerforms various technical and supportive tasks necessary to provide pharmacy services.Sorts, stocks and labels medications and monitors inventoryAssists in expired drug process and proceduresParticipates in departmental quality improvement projects3.
