Payroll Specialist

Our client, a growing company in the western suburbs, is seeking a payroll professional to join their team. Reporting to the Manager, this individual will process multi-state payroll across various payroll cycles for both union and non-union employees. This is a primarily onsite role, with four days in the office and one work-from-home day each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute end-to-end payroll processing activities for employees across several locations
  • Validate payroll inputs including hours worked, pay adjustments, deductions, and employee status updates
  • Support administration of payroll-related withholdings, benefit deductions, and third-party payments
  • Assist with payroll balancing, audit support, and periodic reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with HR regarding onboarding, offboarding, compensation updates, and workforce changes
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and help resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain payroll documentation and ensure employee records remain accurate and up to date
  • Stay current on applicable wage and hour requirements, payroll tax considerations, and workforce compliance matters

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple states
  • Exposure to unionized or hourly workforce environments
  • Familiarity with modern payroll platforms
