Radiographer

The Radiographer is responsible for the production of quality radiographic images through knowledge of radiologic sciences and patient care.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Producing images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of radiographic technique (collimation, ID markers and patient demographics), anatomical positioning, equipment performance and department positioning.
• Performing diagnostic procedures with minimal exposure to self and patients.
• Performing examinations efficiently with repeat rate consistent with department standards.
• Demonstrating knowledge of film critique sufficient to repeat films when indicated without direction.
• Demonstrating proper radiation safety and general practices for patient, self, and others.
• Demonstrating caring, excellence, leadership, pride, teamwork, integrity and center wide standards for service.
• Providing all aspects of patient care based on established standards.
• Demonstrating competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.
• Demonstrating competency using PACS.
• Responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance of the x-ray machine is scheduled and performed as required.
• Knowing the general condition of the equipment at all times, knowing how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures. Documenting failures in a timely manner.
• Having good eye-hand coordination during radiology procedures.
• Ability to organize relative patient information, reports, and films for presentation with Radiologist.
• Evaluating radiographs for technical quality.

Education, experience and qualifications include:

• High School or GED required.
• Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in an approved school.
• Registered ARRT R (Radiography).
• Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
