About the Position

Job Title: Travel RN ICU Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital ICU experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year current acute care hospital ICU experience. BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications are required. Description: The unit has 21 beds and a staff of 45. During the day shift, there is 1 Charge Nurse with no patient assignment and 6-8 nurses. The night shift has the same structure. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 2:1 for standard ICU care. Step down patients have a ratio of 3:1, and very high acuity patients have a ratio of 1:1. The unit uses Hospira IV pumps for equipment. The electronic medical record (EMR) system is Meditech. Typical procedures performed on this unit include intubation, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, vasopressor IV drip titration, ventilator management, and care of sepsis and arrhythmias for Med/Surg critical care patients. Ideal candidates are team-oriented with a good sense of humor. The unit requires staff to work every third weekend and one major winter holiday. Staff self-schedule and may float to telemetry and other hospitals. This unit is in a small community hospital where most patients are elective. The facility is Magnet designated and has intensivist coverage in the ICU 24/7.
