Senior Project Manager

Role Description

A Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the scope, schedule, cost, quality, and client satisfaction of a project throughout its entire lifecycle, from Initiating through Closing phases. The PM depends on the help of other people to perform most of the actual activities of the project. A project manager’s role is primarily focused around written and verbal communication to all project stakeholders.

• Overseeing and performing project management functions on all Sports Venue projects.
• Acting as the person responsible on assigned projects with direct control over all project activities.
• Mentoring other Project Managers within the company.
• Assigned the largest, most complex, and sensitive projects.
• Providing direction to a wide range of internal and external personnel.

What You’ll Do

• Manage project communications, scheduling, task lists for technicians, and deliverables from engineering, CAD, and Programming.
• Complete systems integration projects on time, on budget, and achieve high customer satisfaction.
• Spend the majority of time managing projects and communicating with all project stakeholders.
• Follow and help improve established Diversified processes.
• Develop strong long-term relationships with clients.
• Manage client relationships, including expectations, communications, and satisfaction.
• Coordinate and communicate project activities.
• Provide clear leadership and ownership for the project.
• Coordinate all activities associated with timely, accurate, and on-budget project completion.
• Support and assist team members as needed.
• Ensure appropriate and frequent communication between stakeholders.
• Resolve destructive conflict.
• Design, plan, and coordinate work teams for Sports Venue installation projects.
• Assume ownership of individual projects and assignments.
• Establish and maintain communication with Account Executives, Directors, installation technicians, subcontractors, clients, etc.
• Lead a team on large projects when required.
• Develop and communicate project updates as required.
• Monitor labor, equipment, and materials budgets.
• Provide and/or direct technical and administrative support to project team members.
• Develop and maintain all related project schedules.
• Perform field verification of prospective work sites and document all issues.
• Coordinate all drawings and documentation between all internal and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate and direct design reviews to assure proper documentation in the field.
• Coordinate all system programming and final checkout of systems.
• Provide punch-list of remaining tasks after substantial completion.
• Contract with contractors and other trades when necessary.
• Monitor status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing.
• Ensure quality and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate training & turnover of projects to client, service department, & sales.

Complexity

Every project is different and every set of project stakeholders is different. The PM needs to negotiate a very complex set of variables between system design, site conditions, and a widely varying set of expectations with multiple stakeholders. The skill of communicating both verbally and in writing to manage all these variables takes a very high level of awareness, emotional intelligence, and people management skills.

Decision Making Authority

• Takes full ownership of the project.
• Acts as the single point of responsibility and accountability for the project.
• Ensures schedule performance, quality of solution delivered to client, and client satisfaction.
• Manages and reports on the project’s financials, including ensuring budget performance and profitability.
• Ensures timely and correct billings to client.
• Demonstrates proactivity, responsiveness, and follow-through.
• Communicates decision options to stakeholders and manages those decisions.
• Manages a complex array of decisions at every point of the project but is rarely the sole decision maker.

Physical Working Environment

• Exposure to construction site conditions on a regular basis.
• Responsible for safety while on job sites and compliance with all safety regulations.
• Use of PPE is usually required on job sites.
• Typically spends at least 40% of time on feet and mobile around the construction site.
• Ability to occasionally climb ladders, use stairs, and lift/move materials up to 20 pounds.
• Regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment, and controls for SI installation projects.
• Normal office conditions when not on construction sites, requiring use of office equipment.

Travel

• Frequent travel by car and airplane trips required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in their state of residence.
• Use of own vehicle with reimbursement for mileage at the current corporate rate.
• Local travel to job sites (within a 2-hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% of the job.
• Remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times.
• 10% remote travel is required on a regular basis.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience (Technical, engineering, construction management, or business discipline preferred).
• Advanced leadership or project management training preferred.
• Industry certifications (AVIXA, broadcast, media systems) preferred.
• MS Project Proficient; mastery of MS Project preferred.
• Minimum 5-8+ years of progressive project management experience.
• Experience working on a construction site.
• Proven estimating experience in construction.
• Demonstrated success delivering complex, high-value projects.
• Prior experience as a Project Manager required.
• Strong preference for hands-on experience in installation, engineering, and field leadership.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage customer relationships in high-pressure environments.
