The Lab Lead will be expected to do bench work in addition to lab lead responsibilities./p/lilipAs a Lab Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the work Medical Lab Technicians and/or Sample Management Technicians (not direct reports)./p/lilipYou will leverage your passion for coaching and leading the work of others, and helping the team reach business goals./p/lilipYou will coordinate workflow of the team./p/lilipYou will problem-solve every day, from trouble-shooting diagnostic analyzers to resolving situational workflow and turnaround time challenges/p/lilipYou will bring your passion and enthusiasm for teamwork, success, innovation and excellence to your role, every day./p/li/ulullipAs an individual contributor, you will be using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment./p/lilipYou will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day./p/lilipYou will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)./p/lilipYou can expect to specialize in one or more of the following areas:/p ullipHematology: Testing cell-related components of blood samples to enumerate and identify their cellular components, including the microscopic evaluation of blood smears and the use of automated and manual counting techniques./p/lilipChemistry / Endocrinology: Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes, utilizing automated instrumentation./p/lilipUrinalysis: Analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques./p/lilipCytology: Processing blood and body fluids for microscopic examination by pathologists. Includes slide preparation and staining, utilizing manual and automated counting techniques./p/lilipImmunology / Serology: Testing blood and other samples for the presence of viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG)./p/lilipParasitology: Examining samples to identify parasites, utilizing fecal flotation and various microscopic techniques./p/lilipPatient Sample Management: receiving, preparing, and accessioning veterinary samples (blood, urine, feces, and biopsies) for laboratory analysis and testing./p/li/ul/li/ulpWhat you will need to succeed:/pullipIdeally, you will have 3-5+ years experience working in a laboratory. Experience setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) would be a plus./p/lilipYou have experience using a microscope to review slides and identify the various elements of a sample./p/li/ulullipAttention to detail, organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment./p/lilipYou have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues/p/lilipYou are looking forward to working in a team/p/lilipYou concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely/p/lilipYou have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility/p/lilipYou possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
