Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Senior Data Governance Lead SAP Metadata on behalf of our client in Remote. This role is responsible for leading enterprise-wide data governance initiatives with a strong focus on SAP Metadata Management. The ideal candidate will drive governance strategy, data quality, metadata standards, stewardship practices, and compliance efforts to ensure enterprise data remains accurate, trusted, and business-ready.

This position requires a seasoned data governance professional with expertise in SAP data environments, metadata management, data lineage, master data governance, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and best practices.

• Lead SAP metadata management initiatives to ensure metadata accuracy, consistency, lineage, and traceability.

• Manage business glossaries, data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and governance documentation.

• Establish and maintain data stewardship, ownership, and accountability models across business and technology teams.

• Define and monitor critical data elements (CDEs), data quality rules, and governance controls.

• Conduct data profiling, governance assessments, metadata reviews, and data quality audits.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, SAP teams, data architects, and technical teams to align governance strategies with business objectives.

• Support SAP data models, master data, reference data, and source-to-target mapping activities.

• Promote data quality, integrity, consistency, and compliance across enterprise data environments.

• Develop governance dashboards, KPIs, and reporting metrics to measure governance effectiveness and data quality performance.

• Identify governance risks, process gaps, and improvement opportunities, and drive remediation efforts.

• Partner with analytics, engineering, and data management teams to ensure trusted and governed data assets.

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance on data governance best practices and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Management, or a related field.

• Strong expertise in enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.

• Proven experience with SAP Metadata Management, including metadata repositories, data lineage, business glossaries, and governance processes.

• Strong understanding of SAP data structures, tables, fields, relationships, and associated business processes.

• Experience with data quality management, data stewardship, data ownership, and governance controls.

• Hands-on experience with one or more governance and metadata management tools, including:

  • SAP Information Steward

  • SAP MDG (Master Data Governance)

  • SAP PowerDesigner

  • Collibra

  • Informatica

  • Alation

  • Microsoft Purview

• Solid understanding of data warehousing, data integration, analytics, and reporting environments.

• Experience with database concepts, data modeling, schemas, data dictionaries, and source-to-target mappings.

• Proficiency with SQL and reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

• Knowledge of regulatory compliance, data privacy, risk management, and audit processes.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG).

• Experience leading large-scale enterprise data governance programs or transformations.

• Professional certifications in Data Governance, Data Management, SAP, DAMA/CDMP, or related disciplines.

• Prior experience mentoring or leading data governance teams.
