Girard Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary hospital for companion animals located in the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Role Description: This is a full-time, 4-day-week, on-site Veterinarian role based in Philadelphia, PA. The Veterinarian will perform routine wellness exams, diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, and provide surgical care, including soft tissue procedures and anesthesia management. Daily responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role also involves communicating clearly with pet guardians about diagnoses, care options, and preventive health, as well as collaborating with technicians and support staff to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. The Veterinarian will help maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and may participate in case discussions, staff training, and community outreach as needed. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and an active, unrestricted veterinary license (or eligibility) in Pennsylvania. Clinical proficiency in small animal medicine, including physical examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, and routine soft tissue surgery. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, technicians, and other veterinary professionals. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple cases, and make sound medical decisions in a fast-paced clinical setting. Commitment to compassionate, inclusive, and fear-free handling of all patients. Comfort with electronic medical records and basic veterinary practice software; willingness to learn new systems and protocols. Previous small animal general practice experience or completion of an internship is preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical skills and a growth mindset are encouraged to apply.
