Shift 1st shift, Day Shift Employment Type Full time, 1.0 (40 hours a week) Department Psychiatric Services Location MercyOne Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa (IA) Job Title Nurse Senior – Charge Nurse Description As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, you will utilize critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. You will supervise and coordinate care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. You will facilitate communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. You will adhere to MercyOne’s performance expectations and uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of MercyOne. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Iowa RN license, (current IL license if working in IL) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within three months of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within three months of hire. Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter for both Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training is required within six months of hire. Specialty practice certification is preferred. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Position Purpose The licensed Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides professional nursing services and standards of practice in accordance with level of experience & education, state board of nursing, and established policies & procedures. The RN integrates the art, science, leadership, and knowledge of nursing clinical practice through relationship‑centered, compassionate, ethical, and respectful direct/indirect healthcare services. Functional Role RN III – Senior. Practice is guided by nursing process & policy/procedure/standards. Maintains focused area of expertise for care/program and/or provides interventions or knowledge within niche areas of care/program; advances professional/shared governance, collaborates inter- and intra‑professionally, delegates to others to advance care, assumes an expanded role and increased responsibility; able to lead a small team; serve as unit/service/program nursing practice mentor and identify learning needs of others.
