This position provides support to the department headquarters and 25 district offices throughout the state. The ideal candidate will have experience in asset accounting; receiving, screening, and disposal of surplus property; and computer programs including Excel and asset management databases. Work involves maintaining asset accounting records and coordinating the disposition of surplus property for the Department. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Monitors the Support Services division surplus warehouse electronic mailbox for surplus requests. Coordinates the transport and receipt of Department assets between districts/divisions and the surplus warehouse. Receives and evaluates surplus Department assets to determine the condition of the items and the appropriate disposition action. Photographs surplus items that are in good condition and creates posting for reuse within the Department or upload for public auction. Enter data and maintains records of inventory, transfers, and sale of surplus assets. Prepares and coordinates the disposition of Department assets for public auction. Provides customer service to TxDOT employees and the public by answering questions regarding surplus items available r transfer or auction; informs online action buyers of payment receipt dates and item pickup deadlines. Assigns new asset tags and reprints asset tags that are damaged or missing numbers. Coordinates and serves as a liaison for Fleet Operations Division vehicles and equipment titles. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education. Experience: 1 year of experience in inventory, asset management, or related experience (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent) College education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
