This is a role for someone who is built for physical work and proud of it! Mackey's has been Connecticut's trusted, family-owned farm and home supply store for over 55 years. Every customer who depends on us to have the right product, in the right place, on time, is counting on the person doing this job.

We'll be direct: this is one of the harder roles to fill well. Physical stamina is just the starting point. What separates great warehouse associates at Mackey's is how they show up the professionalism they bring to a physically demanding environment, the care they take with product and process, and the way they treat teammates and customers. Those qualities are rarer than the ability to lift a bag of feed.

What You'll Do

Receive, verify, and stock a diverse range of agricultural and retail inventory

Handle products including pet foods, fertilizers, livestock feed, trees, and shrubs

Prepare and load customer orders for delivery with precision and care

Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely, every time, no exceptions

Keep the warehouse organized, clean, and customer-ready throughout your shift

Partner with the store and delivery teams to keep operations moving smoothly

Identify and communicate any improvement opportunities, inventory issues, damage, or safety concerns immediately

Requirements

Required

Physical capability and stamina regularly lifting 50 lbs, all shift, every shift

Dependability the team and our customers count on you showing up ready, every day

Attention to detail the right product, right place, right condition, every time

Safety-first mindset you follow procedures, and you look out for your teammates without exception

Professional demeanor you carry yourself and communicate in a way that reflects well on Mackey's

Team orientation you communicate clearly, take direction well, and help others succeed

Weekend availability at least one weekend day per week is required

Must be 18 years or older

Preferred

Prior warehouse, receiving, stocking, or inventory management experience

Forklift certification (training provided for the right candidate)

Experience with agricultural, farm supply, or home and garden products

Familiarity with pallet jacks, hand trucks, or receiving systems

Schedule & Availability

Part-time and seasonal opportunities considered

At least one weekend day per week is required Saturday and Sunday are our busiest days

Year-round position with peak demand in spring and the holidays

Work Environment

Our retail environment is dynamic and engaging. The role requires:

• Active movement including reaching, bending, and lifting
• Handling products weighing 5-50 lbs
• Adapting to seasonal changes in product offerings and weather conditions
• Extended periods of standing or walking between breaks
• Operating in both traditional retail and e-commerce fulfillment environments
