Warehouse Associate (Part-time or Seasonal)

Warehouse Associate

This is a role for someone who is built for physical work and proud of it! Mackey's has been Connecticut's trusted, family-owned farm and home supply store for over 55 years. Our mission is to be the most TRUSTED and RELIABLE retail service — and our warehouse team makes that possible. Every customer who depends on us to have the right product, in the right place, on time, is counting on the person doing this job.

We'll be direct: this is one of the harder roles to fill well. Physical stamina is just the starting point. What separates great warehouse associates at Mackey's is how they show up — the professionalism they bring to a physically demanding environment, the care they take with product and process, and the way they treat teammates and customers. Those qualities are rarer than the ability to lift a bag of feed.

If you are someone who finds genuine satisfaction in purposeful physical work, takes pride in doing things right, and brings a professional attitude to everything you do — we want to meet you.

What You'll Do

• Receive, verify, and stock a diverse range of agricultural and retail inventory

• Handle products including pet foods, fertilizers, livestock feed, trees, and shrubs

• Prepare and load customer orders for delivery with precision and care

• Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely, every time, no exceptions

• Keep the warehouse organized, clean, and customer-ready throughout your shift

• Partner with the store and delivery teams to keep operations moving smoothly

• Identify and communicate any improvement opportunities, inventory issues, damage, or safety concerns immediately

Who Thrives Here

Before applying, be honest with yourself about whether this description fits you:

• You don't just tolerate being on your feet and lifting all day — you genuinely prefer it to sitting at a desk

• You take as much pride in how you work as in what you accomplish

• You show up on time, ready to go, without needing to be managed

• When something goes wrong, you say so — you don't cover it up or pass the blame

• You treat every person you encounter — customer, teammate, vendor — with basic professionalism and respect

• You understand that a family-owned business depends on your reliability in a way that a large corporation does not

Who Won't Be a Fit

We'd rather be clear now than waste your time:

• If you're looking for a job where you can coast or avoid accountability, this isn't it

• If physical work sounds appealing right now but has worn you down before, reconsider — the pace here is consistent

• If working as part of a small, visible team where your attitude is noticed every day isn't for you, that's okay — but this probably isn't your place
