Job Description

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for the protection, safeguard, and safety of hospital personnel, visitors, and assets.  S/he patrols assigned areas of the hospital properties; enforces and maintains visitor control; investigates minor complaints of a security nature; and escorts staff, visitors, and patients, as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Education:

• High school diploma or GED.
• PERC certification/20-hour security certification.
• Current State I.D or Current Driver’s license with good driving record.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Patrol (foot or mobile) and monitor hospital properties for unauthorized persons. If needed, redirect or escort from property.
• nsure the safety of patients, visitors, employees, contractors, and volunteers.
• Provide escort service for staff or visitors upon request.
• Monitor all visitors and staff for proper identification.
• Enforce and maintain visitor control in accordance with hospital regulations regarding visiting hours, age of visitor, and number of visitors per patient.
• Perform bag checks of employees leaving hospital property at designated areas.
• Check for hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Enforce parking restrictions on hospital premises.
• Ensure current city, state, and federal laws and regulations are enforced with regards to the hospital.
• Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with the public and law enforcement agencies.
• Initiate incident reports covering specific types of security situations or incidents and submit to supervisor.
• Inform supervisor regarding serious and/or pertinent situations.
• Perform pick-ups and/or deliveries in the absence of Driver.
