Description:

St. Helen Catholic Church seeks a dependable and service-oriented Custodian to assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The Custodian contributes to the ministry of Catholic church by ensuring that the all church facilities reflect the dignity, hospitality, and stewardship values of the Church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial and cleaning duties throughout all church facilities, including offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize assigned areas.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean and restock restroom facilities.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of parish, diocesan, and community events.
• Maintain church grounds and facilities in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and facility issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow all diocesan safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
• Self-starter with good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated respect for the mission and values of the Catholic church.
• Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with parishioners, staff, and visitors.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical labor associated with custodial and facility maintenance duties.
