Technical Support SpecialistAnalyze hardware and software, on-premises and hosted, across a variety of systems, ensuring that the setup and functionality meet district standards. Coordinate the diagnosis and repair of district systems, communicating with district personnel, product vendors, and/or third-party technical support. Assist in developing district-wide processes for testing, repairing, and setting up district technology.Education/CertificationAssociate degree in a technology-related field, required Bachelor's Degree, PreferredSpecial Knowledge/SkillsBasic networking skills preferred.ExperienceMust have experience in hardware and software troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair in a PC environment. Must have experience with desktop applications for Windows, macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Chrome OS operating systems.Major Responsibilities and DutiesTechnicalDemonstrate thorough knowledge of computer hardware and software.Have knowledge of local and wide area network systems.Analyze incoming work orders using the District's helpdesk ticket system and respond to tickets appropriately and in a reasonable timeframe.Assist in the planning, configuration, and deployment of district-provided technology, such as Laptops and tablets (Chrome OS, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Windows), district-approved software, etc.Identify, diagnose, and find effective solutions for issues related to district-provided technology, including laptops, tablets, interactive flat panels, scanners, printers, etc.Coordinate, perform, and document warranty work for hardware repairsInventoryEnsure the availability of spare parts for troubleshooting and repair in accordance with district standards.Assist with maintaining the fidelity of the district inventory.Policy, Reports, and LawEnsure compliance with federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including timekeeping records.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.SafetyMaintain safety standards in compliance with federal, state, and insurance regulations, as well as district requirements, and develop a preventive safety program.Ensure equipment is maintained in optimum operating condition.OtherShow ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, vendors, and district personnelSupervise non-District personnel such as interns and temporary employees, as assigned.Act as a team player with the ability to work independentlyDemonstrate good customer service and interpersonal skillsPossess the ability to communicate effectively and positively both orally and in writing with teachers, administrators, and other staffOther duties as assignedMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsMaintain emotional control under stress.Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with customers.Frequent district travel and occasional statewide travel.Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.Daily lifting and carrying of heavy objects (45 lbs. or over).Walking, standing, bending, stooping, and/or climbing.This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned, or of the skills that may be required.Bryan ISD is an equal opportunity employer.
