Organ Donation Coordinator

The Organ Donation Coordinator is responsible for maximizing donation and transplantation opportunities in compliance with industry standards. The coordinator evaluates and coordinates the medical management of the organ donor to maximize organ function. The Organ Donation coordinator also works with a team to facilitate allocation of organs and coordinate the organ recovery process.

The position is available in two locations: Altoona, Iowa and North Liberty, Iowa. The schedule includes 10 shifts every 4 weeks, with a combination of 12 and 24 hour shifts, on both days and nights, plus required holidays and weekends. The salary range is $80,500 - $100,600, determined by education, experience, and skills relevant to the position.

Position qualifications and education requirements include being a Licensed Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic/EMT, or having prior experience working as a clinical coordinator in another OPO. Prior experience and current knowledge of medical/surgical critical care, trauma, or emergency care in the hospital setting is required. Ability to obtain and maintain an ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification is also required. A valid driver's license and personal auto insurance are necessary. A Bachelor's Degree or higher is preferred, as well as CPTC certification.

Skills and abilities include functioning well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, excellent time management skills, effective communication both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Physical requirements include travel or onsite response to execute essential job functions, receiving required vaccines, maintaining a current valid driver's license, responding to call/page within 10 minutes and arriving to office within one hour of call or as assigned, working a rotating on-call schedule with extended hours, lifting equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 lbs, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling with hands, expressing ideas verbally, and the capability to travel by vehicle or plane.
