Canyon Vista Medical Center was founded in 1963 as Western Baptist Osteopathic Hospital on what was then the eastern edge of Sierra Vista. Growth and advancing technology dictated building our new 177,000 square foot hospital at 5700 E Hwy 90 completed in 2015.

How you'll contribute A

Respiratory Therapist

who excels in this role: Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer. Performs bedside PFTs, EKGs, and tobacco cessation education as ordered. Delivers and evaluates patient response to therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition appropriately. Responds to codes and emergent calls for respiratory assistance. Provides rapid assessment and appropriate intervention. Educates patients and families about illness management and community resources. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices. Stocks and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas with required levels and equipment. Cleans, sterilizes, maintains, and calibrates equipment. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for Applicants should have an associate's degree. Additional requirements include: Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required. License: /Certifications: Current CRT or RRT license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred. Additional Information Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
