The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Johns Hopkins is an 18‑bed unit. The unit cares for a variety of post‑operative surgical cases, including abdominal transplant, GI surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, ortho/Neuro spine procedures, and general surgery. Patients are admitted directly from the operating room, other units, and other hospitals. The SICU team is composed of RN’s, MDs, Advanced Practice Providers, Patient Clinical Technicians, Support Staff, Respiratory Therapists, and Pharmacists. The SICU takes great pride in providing high‑quality post‑operative surgical care every day. Teamwork is the common thread to everything the SICU does! Responsibilities The SICU RN manager oversees operations, budget, and staffing, and is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures while supporting the organization’s mission and vision. The role is also accountable for maintaining high‑quality patient care and driving continuous performance improvement through clinical leadership, staff development, education, and collaboration. Qualifications Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Applicants without the required degree may be considered, per Nursing guidelines. Five years of experience as a registered nurse, including 3–5 years with leadership and/or management responsibilities. Active Maryland or Compact RN license. Review our benefits here: Salary Range Minimum $56.34/hour – Maximum $87.32/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
