Mechanical CAD Designer for AI Training [Remote]

Use your CAD, mechanical-design, and Python expertise to help develop AI training data through precise 3D modeling tasks. You will interpret dimensioned engineering drawings, recreate components as solid models, and verify that the resulting geometry meets strict technical requirements. This role focuses on mechanical CAD and computational geometry, not hardware support or electronics.

• Interpret dimensions and geometric relationships in technical drawings and schematics.
• Convert 2D engineering drawings into accurate 3D mechanical models.
• Break complex parts into appropriate geometric features.
• Create curved profiles, sweeps, lofts, fillets, chamfers, and Boolean operations.
• Use Python to generate or automate CAD geometry.
• Export valid, watertight solid models, including STEP files.
• Validate dimensions, topology, volume, surface area, and inertia properties.
• Identify and resolve subtle differences between expected and generated geometry.
• Produce reproducible solutions that run in clean technical environments.

• Strong Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD or computational geometry.
• Ability to read dimensioned engineering drawings and schematics.
• Strong 3D spatial reasoning and close attention to geometric precision.
• Experience validating or troubleshooting CAD models.
• Transferable experience with tools such as AutoCAD, build123d, CadQuery, FreeCAD, OpenCascade, Fusion 360, Onshape, SolidWorks, trimesh, RTL tools, or similar CAD and geometry software.
• Formal education and a specific number of professional experience years are not required.
• Mechanical designers, CAD specialists, engineers, researchers, makers, and independent technical experts are encouraged to apply when they can demonstrate the required skills.

• Independent contractor engagement, available globally and fully remote.
• Approximately 15 hours per week.
• Flexible schedule, with control over work days and hours, including weekends if desired.
• Selected candidates should be ready to begin promptly, with the first task expected within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding.

• Advertised pay range of $50 to $100 per hour.
