Job OpportunityThe Laboratory Technician I will operate under the general direction of the Laboratory Manager and designated personnel while carrying out various duties related to laboratory operations. The primary responsibilities include the collection and preparation of blood samples, accurate patient and specimen identification, transportation and handling of samples, along with executing all related clerical functions. The Laboratory Technician I is expected to process specimens according to established laboratory policies and assist with special projects as assigned.Shift InformationShift: Night (5x8-Hour) - 04:00 PM to 12:30 AMWeekend Requirements: Every other weekendQualificationsCertification: California State CPTI-Certified Phlebotomy Technician IExperience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is requiredEssential SkillsAseptic TechniqueBlood culture managementSpecimen storage and preparationCentrifuge operationOrder of blood draws according to CLSI guidelinesData entry and medical records reviewPatient education on specimen collection and preservationPost venipuncture site careProper labeling and disposal of samplesPatient InteractionThe Laboratory Technician I will interact with patients across various age groups including adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. The role requires prioritizing patient collections based on order requests (stat, timed, routine) and maintaining a compassionate and professional demeanor.Compliance and DocumentationCandidates must be prepared to comply with onboarding requirements, including completing necessary labs within a specified timeframe.
