The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting the Principal in the planning, organization, administration, and management of the school. The Assistant Principal assists with supervising staff, creating a safe environment, monitoring curriculum, budget development, and other duties associated with the successful operation of a school; effectively assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Principal in the absence of the principal; assists in the development and implementation of the whole school program; assists in the development and articulation of the school mission, vision, goals, and objectives; monitors the development and implementation of the school’s educational program including courses, curriculum, instructional units/lessons, and effective classroom environments; assists in the supervision and evaluation of certificated and classified employees including classroom observations and instructional support; prepares the master schedule, including recommendations for staff assignments, and the plan for registering and scheduling students; coordinates student orientation and registration activities; coordinates the federal, state, and district testing program to ensure proper administration and accurate and reliable reporting; assists in the supervision of the special education program at the school; assists in the coordination of professional development, team meetings, and faculty meetings; manages the completion of various state, federal, district, and school reports; and; performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· 3-5 years teaching experience

· Education administration experience preferred

· ISBE Professional Educator Licensure (PEL 1) with General Administrative endorsement preferred

· Masters’ Degree in Education preferred

· Comprehensive knowledge of school code and school compliance

· Possesses leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents

· Exhibit superior interpersonal and problem-solving skills

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office, student information systems, and various educational software/technology
