This role will help shape how we inform, engage and inspire our 33,000+ team members around BJ's strategic priorities, purpose and company news.The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator, exceptional writer and creative storyteller who is comfortable working with senior leaders. This person will help drive our editorial strategy and develop content for major company moments, from leadership conferences and town halls to executive meetings. Based at BJ's headquarters in Marlborough, MA, they'll partner with teams across the business to uncover stories and bring our strategy, purpose and team members to life.Major tasks, responsibilities and key accountabilities:Develop and execute internal communications plans that connect team members to BJ's strategic priorities, purpose and key business initiativesManage the editorial strategy and content calendar, identifying relevant themes and stories and creating a consistent rhythm of engaging content across the organizationFind and tell compelling stories from across BJ's clubs, distribution centers and corporate teams, including identifying opportunities for external amplification in partnership with the broader corporate communications teamPartner with senior leaders and their teams to develop clear, compelling executive messaging, presentations and communicationsDevelop communications, content and programming for major company moments, including the annual Operations Leadership Conference, quarterly town halls and executive meetingsManage communications initiatives from planning through execution, coordinating messaging, stakeholders, timelines and follow-throughBuild strong relationships across the business to anticipate communications needs, uncover opportunities and ensure our storytelling reflects what is happening across BJ'sTravel regularly to BJ's locations and company events to uncover stories and provide communications support for key business momentsQualifications:8–10+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, journalism, public relations or a related fieldExceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex business information into clear, engaging communicationsStrong presence and demonstrated experience working with and supporting senior leadersExperience developing and executing communications and editorial strategies and managing initiatives from concept through executionExperience supporting executive meetings, town halls or other large-scale team member communications experiencesProactive, resourceful and comfortable navigating ambiguity, changing priorities and a fast-paced environmentStrong relationship-building, organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detailCollaborative team player who can work independently, take ownership of projects and pitch in where business needs are greatestAbility to travel regularly in support of new club openings, company events and in-club storytelling and video initiatives (~30-40% travel anticipated)Experience with issues and crisis communications, light design skills (ie: PowerPoint and Canva) and video storytelling, storyboarding or editing a plusProfessional writing, storytelling and copyediting samples may be requestedThis is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $128,500.00 - $164,000.00.
