About the Role:

The Payroll Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. This position is responsible for managing payroll data, processing invoices, and maintaining detailed records to support financial accuracy and compliance. The Payroll Clerk will collaborate closely with HR and accounting teams to handle new hire paperwork, track Family Medical Leave, and reconcile payroll-related accounts. Utilizing Sage 100 Contractor and other financial systems, the role demands meticulous attention to detail to maintain the integrity of the general ledger and bank reconciliations. Ultimately, the Payroll Clerk ensures that employees are compensated correctly and on schedule, supporting overall organizational efficiency and employee satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in payroll processing or a related accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Proficiency with Sage 100or similar payroll and financial management software.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with bank reconciliation and general ledger maintenance.
• Familiarity with Prevailing Wage and Certified Payroll
• Prior experience processing invoices and journal entries in a corporate environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities:

• Process and verify payroll data including hours worked, deductions, and benefits to ensure accurate employee compensation.
• Prepare and process invoices related to payroll and benefits, ensuring timely payments and proper documentation.
• Maintain and update new hire paperwork and employee records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger to ensure payroll accounts are accurate and balanced.
• Track and manage Family Medical Leave requests and documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Utilize Sage 100software to enter data, generate reports, and support payroll processing activities.
• Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.
