Elementary School Principal

JOB SUMMARY Serves as the instructional leader of the Elementary campus. Establishes a widely shared vision for learning at the Elementary level that aligns with the Raymond School District's mission. Develops a school culture and instructional program that supports both student learning and staff professional growth. Effectively manages school organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment. Collaborates with faculty and community members in response to diverse student needs and interests. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved. Uses leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to provide a stimulatinglearning environment that promotes the educational development of each student Engages in essential collaborative conversations to facilitate the continuousimprovement of students and staff Provides for the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual safety of all students Seeks out and utilizes multiple data sources to inform school-level improvement efforts Implements a data-driven plan that assists staff in guiding, modifying, and improvingclassroom teaching and student learning Provides evidence of student growth that results from the school improvement process Assists staff in aligning curricula and best instructional practices with State and Districtlearning goals Assists staff in aligning assessment methods with best instructional practices Assists staff in developing required student growth plans and identifies valid, reliable sources of evidence of effectiveness Evaluates and assists staff in implementing effective instruction and assessment practices Manages human resources in hiring, assignment, and ongoing professional development Manages both staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement Fulfills legal responsibilities Creates opportunities for shared leadership; partners with families and school community Identifies barriers to achievement and knows how to close resulting gaps Other duties as assigned PERSONAL SKILLS Bright and articulate, with a good sense of humor Excellent communication skills; is able to listen/pay attention well and express thoughts clearly both verbally and in writing Resolves conflict in a fair, consistent, and positive manner High-level focus and organization; meets timelines appropriately Possesses a vision for the future, with an appreciation for diversity MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related field Washington State Principal Certification Minimum of five years prior successful teaching experience Demonstrated leadership and management qualities Evidence of experience and training needed to perform the functionsdescribed in the Principal's job description In-District residency preferred, not required Pass WSP & FBI fingerprint background check Knowledge of Washington state school reform initiatives and mandates Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE PREFERRED Administration of similar grade levels Evaluation/supervision of classified and certificated staff Planning/execution of effective student discipline and attendance programs Development of educational programs consistent with school reform and assessment Cultivation of excellence standards in staff and students Facilitation of positive communication amongst staff, parents, students, and community Creation of an atmosphere that regularly involves parents, families, and community members Development/application of technologies and teaching schedules Knowledge and understanding of the Teacher and Principal Evaluation and Growth Program (TPEP), and the Marzano Framework for Teaching PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS Frequently required to sit, talk and hear Often required to stand, walk, use hands to operate equipment, and reach May occasionally need to lift and/or move light objects up to 25 pounds Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Mental demands include attention to detail, confidentiality, discretion, problem solving, diplomacy, stress, training, reasoning, meeting deadlines, and multiple concurrent tasks WORK DAYS PER YEAR = 210 REPORTS TO = SUPERINTENDENT BENEFITS medical/dental/vision insurance retirement plan 12 days sick leave 3 days personal leave #J-18808-Ljbffr
