Natera seeks a Staff Scientist to lead pre-product molecular biology research focused on early cancer detection assays. The role involves designing and optimizing NGS and multiomic diagnostic tests, managing projects independently, and mentoring junior scientists.
Responsibilities
- Lead independent projects designing and developing novel nucleic acid diagnostic tests
- Plan feasibility testing, protocol development, and optimization for new assays
- Execute projects to defined timelines and deliverables
- Mentor junior scientific staff and communicate progress to stakeholders
- Collaborate cross-functionally with bioinformatics, development, and product teams
Requirements
- Ph.D. in molecular biology or closely related field
- Minimum 8 years industry experience or 2+ years postdoctoral plus 6+ years industry
- Extensive NGS and molecular biology experiment design, execution, and data analysis
- Track record developing novel nucleic acid and multiomic diagnostic techniques
- Proven ability leading complex research projects to completion independently
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
