Endoscopy Registered Nurse Opportunity

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with procedural sedation is required. Call experience is required. Description: This department is the second busiest Endoscopy department. There are two procedure suites available. The unit performs 5-25 procedures per day. Registered Nurses cover all three phases of care. Recovery of MAC sedation and procedural sedation is part of the role. All intubated patients go to a separate recovery area. Bedside procedures may be performed in emergency and intensive care settings when needed. With MAC cases, the nurse circulates, and for procedural sedation, there is a circulator and a sedator. Technicians are present in every room except for bronchoscopies. Common procedures include EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, bronchoscopies, EUS, and PEG placements. Registered Nurses and Technicians must have at least two years of experience. All required certifications include BLS and ACLS for Registered Nurses. A charge nurse is present every shift from Monday to Friday. Technicians assist physicians with all procedures except bronchoscopies. They manage equipment, stock rooms, and perform all scope care. There are 3.5 technicians in the department. Shifts do not allow for self-scheduling or block scheduling. Registered Nurses typically take weekend calls for one day from 7 AM to 7 AM the next morning. Technicians have weekend calls from 7 AM Saturday to 6 AM Monday. Call is shared among all technicians. Both Registered Nurses and Technicians expect to participate in holiday call rotations. A response time of 30 minutes is required for call. No floating to areas outside the Endoscopy unit is permitted. There are two campuses available for travel, which are seven minutes apart. Scrubs are provided for staff. Unit-specific orientation will depend on experience and comfort level. Usually, 2-3 days of orientation are provided. The charting system used in this department is Cerner.
