Physician Surgery-General - Competitive Salary

Job Description

A community-based, critical access hospital in western Kansas is seeking a BC/BE General Surgeon to join a well-established surgical team in a modern, growing medical campus setting focused on bread-and-butter general surgery, endoscopy, and shared trauma call coverage.

Clinical Model, Schedule & Surgical Environment:

• Primarily outpatient general surgery practice
• Bread-and-butter general surgery + endoscopy
• Level IV ED trauma call coverage (1 week per month)
• 4-day work week with predictable schedule
• Low call-back volume
• 5–6 weeks of total time off annually (PTO + additional time off)
• Modern 175,000 sq. ft. medical campus completed in 2026
• Three fully equipped ORs, including a hybrid procedure suite
• Infrastructure designed for future surgical robotics
• Epic EMR
• 2,000+ annual surgeries and procedures
• Strong anesthesia, nursing, and perioperative support teams
• Robust visiting specialty support (ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Podiatry, Oncology)
• Regional academic and specialty partnerships to expand advanced care access

Medical Staff & System Strength:

• Large primary care base with 10 family medicine physicians and 12 APPs
• Emergency department staffed by physicians and APPs
• Family physicians providing OB care, including C-sections
• Active orthopedic, oncology, and surgical subspecialty collaboration
• Strong referral network across a wide regional footprint
• Mission-driven not-for-profit health system with hospital, clinics, and long-term care services
• Ongoing expansion of specialty services and telehealth offerings
• 600+ annual acute care admissions
• 3,000+ annual ED visits
• 2,200+ annual surgeries/procedures
• 160,000+ outpatient visits annually

Compensation & Financial Package:

• $450K–$500K base salary
• Sign-on bonus: $10K per year of commitment
• $12K relocation allowance
• $24K annual student loan repayment
• $4K CME allowance
• Malpractice, licensing, DEA, and required certifications fully covered
• 5% employer contribution to 401(k)
