Position Overview Human Engineer Company: The Boeing Company invites applicants to join an innovative team focused on redefining the future of the defense industry. We are seeking a Human Engineering Associate to work on the front end of next‑generation Space Mission Systems technology in El Segundo, CA. Responsibilities Apply Human Engineering knowledge and principles to the analysis, design, and evaluation of complex aerospace systems. Define system performance requirements to ensure safe and successful human operation of physical, functional, and program interfaces for all system operators. Apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of complex systems. Apply knowledge of military standards (e.g., MIL‑STD‑1472, MIL‑STD‑1474, MIL‑STD‑1787, MIL‑STD‑3009, MIL‑STD‑411F) to meet program requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to define human factors requirements that ensure optimal user interaction with systems. Work closely with systems engineers to integrate human factors requirements into overall system specifications. Establish and document the functionality and navigation structure of the graphical user interface (GUI). Create low‑fidelity prototypes, such as wireframes, and high‑fidelity mockups of the GUI. Develop and iterate rapid prototypes to test design concepts and gather user feedback early in the development process. Plan and conduct usability testing sessions with end‑users to evaluate the effectiveness of the operator interface. Facilitate effective communication among interdisciplinary teams. Identify potential risks associated with system design and operation, implementing mitigation strategies. Occasional business travel and after‑hours support may be required. Position is 100% onsite and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance and Special Program Access. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Cognitive Psychology, or a related Human Engineering field. 1+ years of work experience in Human Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Level 2 education (Bachelor) with 2+ years of related work experience. Associate Certification from Board Certification in Professional Ergonomics or equivalent education. Understanding of Human System Integration (HSI) in the defense acquisition process. Knowledge of military standards including MIL‑STD‑1472, MIL‑STD‑1474, MIL‑STD‑2525, MIL‑STD‑1787, MIL‑STD‑3009, MIL‑STD‑411F, DoDI 5000.95, and JSSG‑2010. Experience using Astro Space UX Design System. Experience deriving Human Engineering requirements and supporting defense programs. Experience with program documentation of HE processes and products consistent with U.S. Military Data Item Descriptions. Experience with UI prototyping tools and usability software. Knowledge in Human Perception and Cognition. Experience with Human Performance Modeling. Experience in workload assessments and situation awareness assessments such as NASA TLX. Experience conducting tasks analyses and mapping user workflow. Ability to evaluate designs against Human Readiness Levels (HRLs). Experience in Agile Development. Experience developing style guides and implementing UI design tenets. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering. Pay & Benefits Summary pay range (Level 2): $98,600 - $133,400.
