About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (12-Hour Nights)

Yakima, WA | Intermediate Care/Step-Down Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Minimum 2 weekends per month (Friday and Saturday nights)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an intermediate/step-down setting managing a diverse patient population including general medical, cardiac, and oncology diagnoses
• Perform and monitor tracheostomy care, chest tube management, TR band management, and central line maintenance
• Deliver post-cath lab care including TR band management and stent placement post-procedure monitoring, with q15-minute checks on fresh cath patients (no sheaths, no art lines)
• Titrate cardiac and diuretic drips including diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, and Lasix
• Continuously read, interpret, and measure cardiac rhythms and manage patients on BiPAP and high-flow oxygen
• Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to a high-volume Spanish-speaking and underserved patient population; may care for oncology patients (chemo administration not required unless specified)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Washington or compact equivalent
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/IMC/Step-Down experience; first-time travelers considered with at least 2 years total RN experience including 1 year in PCU
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Must be comfortable reading, interpreting, and measuring cardiac rhythms and managing patients on BiPAP and high-flow oxygen (hard stop requirements)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with post-cath lab procedures including TR band management and stent placement familiarity
• Familiarity with oncology patient diagnoses such as leukemia and neutropenia
• Spanish language proficiency given the high volume of Spanish-speaking patients
• Experience caring for patients with sepsis, stroke, CHF, MI, AFib with RVR, NSTEMI, and pulmonary edema
